FOCALS VS FILLERS
When you look through our packages, you’ll see talk of focals and fillers, but if you’re not in the flower business, you might be scratching your head and wondering what to expect in your selection.
When we speak of focals, we are referring to those show-stopping blooms, the ones that scream “main character energy”. Sweet-smelling roses of course, but also the lesser-loved but even more beautiful (in our opinion) ranunculus, peonies, sunflowers, hydrangeas, dahlia’s and hyacinth, as well as the weird and the wonderful, such as brassica (cabbage flowers) and artichokes.
These are the flowers that make the bouquet, whether it’s because of their size, their shape or that they just hold a little je ne sais quoi.
As for fillers? Well, it’s easy to brush them under the rug in favour of those louder and prouder focals, but fillers are the underdog of the floral world, the glue that brings a bouquet together. While carnations and chrysanthemums might be what spring to mind, filler flowers have so much more to offer.
Romantic snapdragons, and whimsical gypsophilia, as well as statice, feverfew, dill, and even thistles are just some of the offerings you might see appear in your mobile bouquet bar.
